MAJOR TEAM NEWS:
TOTTENHAM – NO KANE, LLORENTE STARTS UP FRONT. I’LL HAVE A SHARE. ERIKSEN STILL IN PLAY FOR ME.
KDB STARTS!! STERLING AND AGUERO STILL MY FAVORITES. DAVID SILVA STARTS AS WELL. I THINK YOU CAN GO LLORENTE, STERLING AND AGUERO. THAT’S A LOT OF SALARY BUT YOU CAN SAVE ELSEWHERE.
RONDON MAKES THE SURPRISE START. PROBABLY NOT GOING THERE.
What a Christmas break it’s been. I was drunk for approximately 13 days straight which nose dived nicely into SOBER January. Brutal. Clear eyes, full hearts. Let’s GO!
A couple of quick notes on the games before we dive in my favorite plays. Team selection is going to be huge, as always, this time of year. Tottenham had the weekend off but will quickly turn around and play on Thursday. The same can be said for West Ham. Keep that in mind. Knowing Swansea are trash, I wouldn’t be totally shocked if Kane sits bringing Llorente into play.
City are fucking ridiculous. Jesus is out. David Silva is in doubt for the game. De Bruyne will probably be out. This could be the Aguero and Sterling show. It’s a little creepy that they are -666. Just saying.
Are Crystal Palace for real? I made fun of the Hodgson hiring but holy shit he’s done a great job.
I like attacking the Tottenham side of things, especially if Kane ($11.8k) sits. If he starts, I think you have to eat the salary and get a piece of this win. Kane has been involved in 56% of Tottenham’s goals on the road. If Llorente ($7.1k) does get the nod plug him in.
The last time City had a gimme of a game like this one v Watford, I made the choice of fading Aguero and going Sterling and KDB. Aguero buried 2 and I lost all my money. Sometimes we have to take a stand and hope things work out. With no KDB, Jesus and potentially D Silva, I like grabbing at least 2 of the 3 pieces. Aguero ($10.5k), Sterling ($9.8k) and Sane ($8.9k) are all in play. You will need 40+ points to hit value but this game could get out of hand and at least 2 of the 3 should complete the full 90.
Andre Ayew ($5.5k) has been hot lately and West Brom are in bad form.
Benteke at ($5.2k) is interesting.
There really aren’t any super cheap players here so stick to what’s above. Andre Carillo is ($3.6k) but outside of his recent goal, he still wouldn’t be hitting value. I’m not sure it happens here against City.
No KDB. No Jesus. We talked about Sterling and Sane. I like Bernardo Silva ($6.8k) in this spot if David Silva sits. Gundogan ($5.4k) is also in play and I would actually rank him ahead of B Silva if both start P/$.
Arnautovic ($7.6k) is on fire and West Ham have scored 2 or more goals in their last 3 games. I need a piece here. Lanzini is a little too expensive for his production but if Arnautovic starts up top I can see rostering him.
I love this spot for Eriksen, especially at $8.7k. Remember this is a guy who was at $10.5k just a couple weeks ago. I’ll be rostering him quite a bit.
Mid priced Chris Brunt at $6.1k is worth an investment with my money. We are going to need savings somewhere and he’s taking a boatload of set pieces. No Rondon for West Brom but they might be able to pop a goal in v West Ham.
Speaking of West Brom and no Rondon, Robson-Kanu ($4.8k) is worth a spot.
Doucoure is playable at $4.3k and will probably be popular. Again, we are up against City but at his price and potential goal upside he’s good for savings.
Last, Milivojevic missed a penalty but I expect him to keep his penalty taking spot. With Zaha in the team there is always a chance for a pen. At $3.2k that is tourney winning upside.
Spurs should have the ball a ton. My favorite play in this section is Ben Davies at his $6k price. He should hit value if he starts.
Pied at $4.6k is interesting. Southampton haven’t been playing well but he’s been a bit of a bright spot and they should get Bertrand back on the other side.
Cresswell ($5.1k) should continue to get forward. Especially if Carroll starts up front I can go there.
Sanchez at $3.4k is worth a roster spot. They should keep the clean sheet and he gets stuck in for little points here and there.
If Wague ($2.6k) gets the start we can take a low owned flier. They won’t have much of the ball but if he gets a couple of interceptions, draws a foul or two and gets 2 crosses in the box he hits value.
Clean sheet. Win. Save Upside??
Ederson ($5.9) at home seems like the play. He’s expensive and Watford have been known to pop up with a hero performance every once in a while.
Adrian ($5.1k) is my preferred choice for the $900 savings. West Brom have only scored 3 goals in their last 5 and the record gets even worse on the road. We know he’ll be forced into action and if he can keep the clean sheet, he has 20 point upside.
Alex McCarthy ($5k) is another sneaky pick at the same price but with less ownership. I’m on the record as saying Forster is the worst GK in the history of the Prem. This move was long overdue.
Gomes ($3.6k) might literally have to make 14 saves. He’s capable but know full well that you will not keep a clean sheet and you will most definitely not get a win bonus. Considering goals against are -2 but saves are +2, what’s the best case scenario considering everything above? 7 saves and 3 goals conceded? That’s 8 points and 2.2X….jesus christ am I going to play Gomes v City??? Probably not. NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART!!
