Oryx Qatar Sports Investments is a pretty fancy name for a state sponsored boondoggle group backed by oil money made off the backs of low paid or straight up slave workers.
This is shady af. £199 million is a LOT of money. That is $265 million American dollars. That doesn’t even cover his reported wages of $30m AFTER taxes. If any of you make a decent wage then you know taxes are the WORST.
So how is slavery buying Neymar? Well…
The Guardian – Qatar’s construction frenzy ahead of the 2022 World Cup is on course to cost the lives of at least 4,000 migrant workers before a ball is kicked, the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) has claimed.
Qatar bought and stole the 2026 World Cup. (From the US no less) You know you are bad news when the rest of the Middle East is cutting off political ties.
So get this…Qatar is reportedly going to sign Neymar as ambassador for the 2026 World Cup. For this, he will be paid €300m. From this €300m Neymar will be able to pay his own £199m release clause. Why would he have to do that? Like 100 reasons.
FFP or Financial Fair Play was introduced specifically to avoid something like this. Way overpaying for a player to artificially inflate the transfer market and only allow a few teams to compete.
Slave money. Just because you can pay the release clause doesn’t mean a team has to accept it. If the money was obtained through nefarious means the club/league have the right to reject it.
This is all setting up for a very awkward 30 days for all 3 parties: PSG, Barcelona and Neymar.
I hope it goes through because who the hell is Barca going to replace him with? Dembele? Coutinho? Mbappe? Let the dominoes fall.
