Tons of huuuge college basketball matchups today while everyone is watching Championship Week football. Already cashed early on UCLA +11 coming up with an outright win @ Kentucky. Couple big and tasty games coming up. Let’s stack some cash.
3:30 / ESPN 2 : #7 Xavier (5-1,7-0) @ #9 Baylor (4-1,7-0) — Baylor -4.5, O/U 137
Baylor started unranked and have been possibly the most impressive team of the early season picking up wins against Oregon, Louisville and Michigan St. Xavier is also coming in at 7-0 but have not been tested as much as Baylor early on. Baylor’s length in that 1-1-3 zone is going to give the X-Men some issues in this one and this is a game that Xavier will really miss Miles Davis. Xavier needs to get in the lane and hit the glass hard in this one to hang tight, while not settling for long jumpers all game. Motley and Ish Wainwright are going to be WAY too much to handle for X. Easy double-double for Motley if you’re into the hoops daily fantasy.
PICK : Baylor -4.5
5:30 / ESPN : (in LA) #8 Gonzaga (2-2,7-0) vs #16 Arizona (3-4,6-1) — Gonzaga -5, 139.5
The talking heads at ESPN say it every year but this truly may be Mark Few’s best version of the Zags. A couple big time transfers in Williams-Goss (Washington) and Jordan Matthews (Cal), along with Josh Perkins and Silas Melson have quickly turned this Gonzaga backcourt amongst the nation’s elite. Williams-Goss is a true floor general and has been filling it up early, while Matthews is a pure sharpshooter. Pair that with Williams, Tillie and a couple 7-footers, including a much healthier Karnowski and you have a truly strong and balanced team. Arizona has already been without the Diaper Dandy Allonzo Trier all season but now they will be missing their floor general for a couple of weeks in Parker Jackson-Cartwright. They beat Sparty in the season opener but the only other team of substance on the schedule so far has been Butler and they took an L. They have a number of skilled bigs with Markkanen, Ristic, and Comanche but the problems in the backcourt will be too much to overcome in this one. I find it very hard for Zona to find any consistent offense and the plethora of weapons on the offensive and defensive ends for the Zags will carry this game throughout. I actually expect a double-digit win here.
PICK : Gonzaga -5
